Hvad er aikido

What is aikido?

Aikido is an old japanese way of selfdefence. It is developed by the master Morihei Ueshiba, also called O-sensei. The style has its roots in the old samurai traditions, and in the many different kinds of Budo. Aikido is selfdefence without actually fighting, you use the energy from the opponent, and thereby defeat him without hurting him.

Nishio and Osensei Shoji Nishio Sensei is having a discussion with Osensei
In Renshin Aikido Dojo we practice the style developed by Nishio Sensei. He was a student directely under O-sensei, and today he is one of the important personalities in the world of Aikido. In his style the techniques are beautifully combined by the developing of your physique and your psyche. Physiqually by praticing, which makes the body fleksibil and strong, and it affects certain Shiatsu points that has a healing effect on the condition of your body. Mentally by the will to continually practising, and the hombleness and the dignity that is nessesery to understand the filisofi behind the techniques. The world “Renshin” is japanese, and means to polish your spirit by continually training, dignity and diciplin.

Who can pratice aikido?

O-sensei thought that any person is unic, and therefore the Aikido techniques equally different. Because you use the energy and the force from your opponent, Aikido is effecient, no matter if you are a man or a woman, big or small.
